Designs in Nature * Rita's Pages

For the past few weeks I've been working in Jill's book choice Designs in Nature. This is a subject that I'm very happy to work with as nature is always an endless source of inspiration for me. My fascination with the birch as an abstract form has made it's way into these pages along with my love of images of bare branches. I've included leaf images, drawings and actual leaves, and a beautiful feather found long ago. My pages are about simplicity and solitude.

  1. The birch is one of my favorite trees and in Northern Europe it is considered a sacred tree, as it is an important symbol in Norse mythology. We have a few birth on out property and I have raised a couple from seeds.

I like your Designs in Nature journal project and how it is coming along. The drawing of the Gingo leaves.

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving Day,

  10. I too have a fasination with the birch tree. I have taken loads of images and they always seem to worked themselves into my journals, altered boxes and hand-made books! I really love looking at all your work and work of the others in your group.Do you know of any other round robin altered book groups going? I love in UK and am really interested in working with others. yours lynda
